For Expats, Foreigners, Foreign Students
Moving to a different country can be overwhelming - not only is there the physical move to organise, but everything else: new home, new job, new schools or university, new surroundings, maybe new language, new contacts, new people, etc. It’s an exciting time, but not without its challenges as you adapt to a new culture.
A different culture is more than simply a maybe different language, customs, habits and social norms. It is all the programming stored in the mind: the habits, beliefs, the behaviours, the meanings, the values, the morals. What we consider “normal” can differ widely from what is acceptable in another country. The meaning we give to words, emotions, behaviours can be very different in another culture. People from a different culture might act, think, feel very differently from us.
If we are not familiar with Cross Cultural mechanism, it may have a strong impact on our wellbeing, self-esteem, confidence and cause stress, anger, fear, frustration, loneliness, and even anxiety and depression.
